Why the name Bigme? [Big-mé]
We wanted a captivating story for when someone asks about our name. The search for the perfect name took nearly two months. But the idea struck one evening as we sat in our workshop, crafting and brainstorming. We knew it was a crucial step — a name people would remember us by. Big brands often weave grand concepts into their names. Then, one of our artisans said something like:
“Well, what’s there to think about? They’re beautiful jewels, by Jove!”
And in that moment, it clicked — that’s it! Honestly, what’s there to ponder? Just like that — Bigme. The phrase “by Jove” is our translation of the uniquely Ukrainian word “бігме”, which conveys assurance and sincerity, a heartfelt promise of quality. We know our creations are beautiful and of high quality; it’s just that others haven’t discovered them yet. In Kolomyia, our hometown in Ukraine, “bigme” (бігме) is a local expression used to affirm truth and genuineness.
